Center for Biomedical Research (CBR)
The primary aim of CBR will be to conduct basic and translational research that will lead to new applications of physics for diagnosing and treating diseases. This research lab is outlined to use quantitative, physical science-inspired approaches to problems of the life sciences. It is an interdisciplinary approach to handling the most challenging aspects such as imaging biological systems, biophysics, medical physics, biomedical engineering, theoretical and computational modeling of complex brain diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Additionally, the lab will focus on the analysis of different brain activities such as Electroencephalography (EEG), Coherence and Correlation functions, Evoked Response Potential (ERP), and other fields requiring physical and technological approaches to medical or biological questions. By applying our challenging research, we aim to provide modern healthcare tools to the common people in our country for better diagnosis and treatment.
Another important aspect of our mission is to train new generations of medical physicists. They will conduct research, provide professional physics services, and teach in healthcare facilities, laboratories, and training centers throughout the world, continuing a tradition of excellence in science and service. Moreover, we strive to provide core instruction in medical physics to students throughout AIUB campus, residents, other students, and worldwide, required to conduct high-quality multidisciplinary research.
